I drew a picture for my mom's birthday that is quite large to fit in a large frame in her shop way back in 2005 and every year, whenever her birthday would roll around again, I always either made or had excuses as to why she hadn't had an image to replace that... really... old looking picture. Every time I went to her shop, I'd cringe since I have developed artistically quite a lot between then and now.
So... I made a promise to myself that this year, no more excuses. I was going to make her a new picture to replace the picture in her shop, so here it is! Her birthday isn't until mid-September but because I had to move out of town to go back to school, I figured I should finish it in time before I left to get it properly printed out and such. I reused most of the dragon's design from my Sakura Con mascot contest entry from last year because I still liked it so much:
This is probably the fastest I have ever worked on a piece of this size (24 x 18 in). =]
